Some insurers are confused by European guidelines on competition law, according to a European Commission representative speaking in London.
Eithne McCarthy, a project leader at the European Commission’s competition directorate, said insurers needed to be sure that their practices were in compliance with competition rules and current Block Exemption Rules (BER) for insurance.
